The film is directed by Sam Garbarski and stars Antje Traue, Anatole Taubman, Moritz Bleibtreu and Mark Ivanir. It tells the story of a group of Holocaust survivors, offering a look at reconciliation in the post-war period and the ability of human beings to overcome adversity.

Bye Bye Germany will be presented in its original language (German) with subtitles in Spanish. The film is based on Die Teilacher, the first novel in writer and journalist Michel Bergmann’s successful series, The Travelling Salesman. The series is inspired by the experiences of members of Bergmann’s family in Germany’s immediate post-war period.

The plot of the film takes place in 1946 in a deportation field in Frankfurt. David Berman and his six friends, all Holocaust survivors, have only one mission: to go to America as soon as possible. To do it, they need money. A lot of money. This is no easy task in these difficult times. The six talented friends start a promising bed linens business, a highly in-demand product for Germans. But David is hiding a dark past that will cause American officer Sara Simon to begin to investigate him. Why does he have two passports? Why did he visit Hitler’s mountain retreat? Could he have been collaborating with the Nazis?
