The municipality of La Guancha is located in the north of Tenerife and has approximately 5,300 inhabitants who live in the town centre, on the coast in Santo Domingo and Santa Catalina, and in other smaller settlements such as Las Cucharas, Las Montañetas, Hoya los Pablos, Las Longueras and El Pinalete. The economy is driven principally by services, mainly due to its proximity to the tourist city of Puerto de la Cruz. Agriculture still survives, however it is complemented with other activities such as small industry and business.
