Tenerife Promotion of Reading and Study Skills Program

The Insular Program for the Promotion of Reading and Study Skills (PIALTE) aims to encourage the entire educational community to bring books closer to children, young people and adults alike, promoting reading habits as the basis for success at school and at work. The Pialte programme aims to train new readers via activities such as storytelling, writing workshops to promote creativity or via puppets or marionettes.

Program activities

  • Establishment of initiatives to promote reading and study skills in the municipalities of Tenerife.
  • Social promotion of reading habits and access to information in all formats.
  • Steering activities and projects in such a manner that they facilitate stability and greater participation of children, young people and adults.
  • Promotion of the participation of individuals and legal entities in the activities organised to promote reading and study skills on the island, creating a planning and diffusion tool entitled “Guide to PIALTE resources”.
  • Establishment of co-financing and joint responsibility criteria with public institutions and the Educational Community.

Co-financing between the Government of the Canary Islands’ Department of Education, Universities, Culture and Sports, the Federation of Municipalities of the Canary Islands, the Islands Town and City Halls and the Federation of Parents Associations (FITAPA)
