History and Anthropology Museum

The Tenerife Museum of History and Anthropology (Museo de Historia y Antropología de Tenerife, MHAT) boasts superb resources, collections, exhibitions and activities that give visitors a rich and detailed insight into the history and culture of the island of Tenerife.

The Museum has two sites in La Laguna: one in Casa Lercaro in the centre of the municipality, and another in Casa de Carta in Valle de Guerra. They offer a wide variety of collections, exhibitions and cultural, educational and other activities.

General Entry

Permanent collection: €3

Discounted Entry

  • All visitors to the permanent collection who pay using the Bono Vía transport card: €1.50
  • Students: €1.50
  • Pensioners and visitors over 64: €1.50
  • Visitors entitled to a “large family” discount: €1.80
  • Groups of 8 or more visitors: €1.80

Free Entry

  • All visitors to the permanent collection: every Sunday
  • School Groups from the Canary Islands Autonomous Region
  • Children under 8
  • Members of the International Council of Museums (ICOM)
  • Teachers and guides accompanied by groups or carrying out prospective visits

Visitor Services

  • Translation of the exhibition texts into different languages (English, German, French and Italian)
  • Educational workshops aimed at school groups and other visitors
  • Photography and videoing is permitted as long as it is not for commercial purposes and flash or tripods are not used
