The Council of Tenerife founded the Empresa Insular de Artesanía, S.A in 1989 with the aim of preserving and promoting the crafts sector. The company develops new marketing and distribution techniques to help our artisans market their products more effectively, thereby ensuring the survival of the crafts and income for artists.
The Tenerife Crafts Company has focused its efforts on two methods of promoting local crafts:
- The creation of a brand encompassing all Tenerife crafts so as to offer a guarantee of authenticity and quality.
- The marketing and distribution of these products by purchasing them from specialised businesses for promotion and sale.
As a result, the Tenerife Crafts Company has created the ARTENERIFE brand as a symbol of authenticity and quality for all products marketed. Once the brand was created, the Tenerife Crafts Company focused on purchasing goods and establishing sales points, with the help of the Council of Tenerife.
The Tenerife Crafts Company currently has six sales outlets strategically located around Tenerife, in Plaza de España in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Playa de Las Vistas and Avenida Litoral in Arona, Puerto Colón in Adeje; the pier in Puerto de La Cruz and the central offices in Calle Tomás Zerolo in La Orotava.
