What is it?
La Caleta Site of Scientific Interest comprises two coves flanked by low sea cliffs and is home to three beaches: one central beach, characterised by its white sands, and two pebble beaches that have formed at the mouths of ravines that lead down to the sea. The area extends inland in the form of low hills separated by a network of gullies; it is a coastal zone, characterised by the presence of halophilous (salt-loving) vegetation and is home to a significant variety of seabirds both native and migratory.
Getting there
La Caleta Site of Scientific Interest can be accessed from the TF-1 via the exit for Costa de Adeje-La Caleta-Fañabé: take the TF-6231 towards Bahía del Duque and you will arrive at the village of La Caleta. Here you can park your vehicle and enter the Site of Scientific Interest via the pathway.

Governing legislation
La Caleta was declared a Site of Scientific Interest and area of environmental sensitivity by Autonomous Region Act 12/94, which was later integrated into the Organisation of the Canary Islands Territory Act via Legislative Decree 1/2000.
