Activities with town halls
The competitions of the Insulars Town halls come determined by their own and specific aim which consists of assuring the integral and suitable benefit in the totality the insular territory of the services of municipal competence; among them are the sport ones, article. 36 in relation to the article 31 section 2 letter a) and the article 2 letter m) of the Regulating Law 7/1985 of Basis of Local Regime of April the 2nd.
More concretely, in the matter of sport, the Decree 152/94, July the 21th, of Transferences of Functions of the Public Administration of the Canarian Autonomous Community by means of culture, sport and historic and artistic patrimony, attributes to the Insular Corporation competitions in the matter of promotion and coordination of the sport for all.
Against this background is approved annually by this Insular Administration, within the sport programs, a series of action whose fundamental purpose is the one to collaborate directly with the Local Corporations of the island, through granting of subsidy, in the promotion of the sport practice, cooperating in addition with those titular Town halls to Municipal to guarantee the initiation and practice of sport in Sport Schools of young people in scholastic age and adult.
These actions of promotion are orchestrated through two denominated sport programs which main mission is to cooperate with the Town halls with less than 20.000 inhabitants, especially with those of smaller economic capacity and management, holders of Municipal Sport Schools, in order to guarantee the initiation and sport practice of the citizens of the municipal term (students and adults).
