What are public internet access centres?

What is a telecentre?

It’s a centre that is public and free of charge where you can connect to the Internet and its services.

In each centre there is a constant stream of activities in place that facilitate the use of new services and the discovery of the possibilities that the web has to offer.

Since 2000, the Council of Tenerife has been leading and coordinating two programs designed to help the rural world engage with the Internet. Both initiatives (the Rural Internet program and the Telecentres program) have helped position the Council as a leading body in the sphere of the promotion of information technology and communications at island and regional level.

The launch of the project involved the collaboration of the different councils of the island for the deployment of the different access points of the so-called Island Network of Public Internet Access Centres (RICAPI).
