The municipality of Arafo is located in the south-east of Tenerife, in the centre of the Güímar valley. It is triangular in shape and gradually stretching out to the sea. Agriculture was the main activity for local people in the past; however, this changed with the construction of an industrial estate on the municipality's coast. The town of Arafo's most prized cultural heritage is its music, and nearly every resident plays an instrument.
