Candelaria takes its name from the Patron of the Canary Islands, Virgen de Candelaria, whose Basilica is the main attraction for the thousands of people who visit the municipality. The area has grown both in population and services thanks to the fact that many people who live in the island's metropolitan area have moved here due to its proximity to the capital. Situated at approximately 20km to the south of the capital, it boasts high-quality services without renouncing its seafaring past and offers visitors a wonderful selection of enchanting small beaches.
