Located above Puerto de la Cruz, La Orotava is the administrative and financial capital of the north of the island. Its early development as a privileged enclave for agriculture attracted the first colonists to settle here, which is why it is home to a number of stately homes and a wide variety of historical buildings. La Orotava also offers a rich and varied program of cultural activities, traditional fiestas and some of the area's most important shopping centres.
