Provision of care for minors: Hogar de la Sagrada Familia

The Institute for Social and Socio-Sanitary Care (IASS) offers services in the areas of the child protection, promotion and prevention through the Childhood and Family Unit.

This Unit is responsible for the management and supervision of residential centres and programs aimed at children who for whatever reason have been temporarily or permanently separated from their families. Professional staff offer specialised services for the entire family unit.

The IASS works together with the island's town halls, offering support and technical guidance to teams of practitioners in the municipalities. The institute also promotes the standardisation of procedures in this area.

Services offered

  • Programs for children with serious behavioural problem: Children live in a centre with other children with serious behavioural problems so as to facilitate rehabilitation. The stay at the centre is organised in such a way that it offers children an intensive and specific style of treatment.
  • Services for teenagers with children: Services are offered to teenagers with children under their care and teenagers who are pregnant that require protection and support.
  • Services for unaccompanied foreign minors: Services for unaccompanied foreign minors between the ages of 14 and 18 who have been declared vulnerable because they are alone in the Autonomous Region.
