Tenerife has two organisations managed by the Council of Tenerife through the Institute for Social and Socio-Sanitary Care (IASS) providing services to people with disabilities. The IASS Department for Disability , that develops projects for action and manages centres aimed at people with disabilities, and the Society for the Promotion of Disabled Persons (SINPROMI) that promotes social and workplace integration of people with disabilities.

The IASS Department for Disability

The IASS manages residences, sheltered accommodation and homes as well as day services, occupation centres and care centres aimed at people with mental disabilities (CAMP).

They also develop projects to prevent disability and promote individuals with disabilities, wherein attention should be drawn to support for non-profit bodies and specialised intervention initiatives such as psychological and social care for people in the centres and their families.

Disability Care Plan

Amongst the programs offered by the Department for Disability, attention should be drawn to the Disability Care Plan. This program is aimed at people aged between 17 and 64 years old, who are severely or completely disabled, in order to help them perform day-to-day activities such as changing body posture, getting up, lying down, moving around the home, getting around without a means of transport, washing themselves, toilet training, getting dressed, eating and drinking, shopping, preparing meals, cleaning and ironing clothes, house cleaning and housekeeping and ensuring the well-being of family members.
