Cabildo de Tenerife

Agrojoven project

Agrojoven is a program that seeks to promote rural life amongst younger generations. The Agrojoven project has been designed to move towards meeting the guidelines for agriculture established by the European Union.

This policy of promoting agriculture amongst younger generations is based on the idea that Tenerife needs farmers who are prepared to rise to mid-term challenges, to pursue socially-acceptable and financially viable occupations in agriculture, and to preserve the values, landscapes and traditions that identify our environment.

The objective of the Agrojoven Project is to promote the participation of young people in rural environments in two ways:

  • By raising awareness amongst young people about the importance of agriculture and its function.
  • By encouraging young people who have completed compulsory education, especially those who have links with farming life, to increase and optimise financial, agricultural and heritage resources.
