Andrés Rábago “El Roto” exhibits paintings and engravings at the CajaCanarias Space in Garachico

The cultural space CajaCanarias in Garachico hosts until 31 January, from Tuesday to Saturday, from 11:00 to 14:00 and from 16:00 to 19:30, and Sundays, from 10:00 to 13:30, the exhibition “Entreluces. Andrés Rábago”, which includes engravings and paintings by the well-known “El Roto”. Admission is free.
Andrés Rábago (Madrid, 1947) has inhabited as a satirical illustrator the skin of “OPS” and “El Roto”. As “OPS” he began to publish his first cartoons in the mid sixties, in “La Estafeta Literaria”. His works went through the crudest side of that decomposition of the human in postwar Spain. The appearance of that other heteronym, “El Roto”, became necessary to occupy a new place, already in democracy, in which it was necessary to resort to language to try to clarify what was happening.
