Quantum Ensemble sets music to One Thousand and One Nights with the concert Shéhérazade

21-Feb-2019
Auditorio de Tenerife "Adán Martín"
Avenida Constitución, 1
Santa Cruz de Tenerife
19:30 horas

The Quantum Ensemble, the resident chamber ensemble of the Tenerife Auditorium, sets the music to "One Thousand and One Nights" with the concert "Shéhérazade" on Thursday 21, at 19:30 hours, in the Chamber Hall. The repertoire consists of pieces by Szymaovsky, Ravel and Rimsky Korsakov related to the protagonist of this medieval story of the Middle East, offering exciting stylistic contrasts. The ticket is on sale at the price of €15.

Shéhérazade, the narrator as well as the character of "One Thousand and One Nights", has been a source of inspiration for many composers and the origin of numerous musical adaptations, among which the three works included in this programme stand out. Masques for piano solo (1915-1916) is part of a series of three works composed by Karol Szymaovsky based on literary sources - the other two being "Mythes" (1915) and "Métopes" (1915). Quantum Ensemble has always stood out for its determination to bring music closer to its audience by creating complicities and meeting points between the members of the ensemble, the music they perform and the audience. This spirit has made it common practice for the musicians to address the audience from the stage before each performance, in order to offer a brief explanation that contextualises the work and makes it closer to the audience.
