TEA Tenerife Space of Arts inaugurates the symposium "Wild Encounters. Art and tourism in the era of mobility" on Tuesday 7, at 17:30 hours, with a presentation by the anthropologist and professor at the University of California Davis, Dean MacCannell, entitled "Origins of Political Savagery" after which the film "Cannibal Tours" (1988), by O'Rourke, will be screened.

In "Origins of Political Savagery," Dean MacCannell will reinterpret the model of encounter between post-moderns and ex-primitives proposed for the first time in his article "Cannibal Tours". In this analysis, Alexander Dugin's theories of "traditional human values" and "social origins" adopt the postmodern position. Whereas the primitive systems of totemic classification adopt the position of the ex-primitive. The staging of this encounter shows the negligent behaviour and fanciful projections of the current racist political rhetoric (known as "populist").
