On Friday 21st at 7.00 p.m., the Science and Space Museum (Museo de la Ciencia y el Cosmos) will host a new edition of its Space Discussions (Tertulias en el Cosmos), called “Searching for life on other planets”. It will be lead by Enric Palle, who has a PhD in Physics and is a researcher at the Canary Islands Institute of Astrophysics (Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias), and Héctor Socas, who also has a PhD in Physics. Admission is free.

It will address the number of planets detected around other stars, already over 4,000, and the TESS space mission is expected to find several thousand more. With the arrival of the next generation of large telescopes, scientists hope that we will finally be able to detect life on other planets in the coming decades, thus fulfilling one of humankind’s greatest desires. Enric Palle has a PhD in Physics and is a researcher at the Canary Islands Institute of Astrophysics. His research work includes searching for and identifying exoplanets, as well as researching biomarkers. Héctor Socas has a PhD in Physics, is director of the Science and Space Museum, a researcher at the Canary Islands Institute of Astrophysics and regular host of the podcast Coffee Break: Signal and Noise, on current affairs in the world of science.
