Hawaiian, Serbian and Mallorcan folklore come together in El Médano at the International Folk Show

From Thursday 15th to Sunday 18th, El Médano’s town square will host activities and performances as part of the Granadilla Peoples’ Folklore Show. Unique dances from Hawaii, Serbia and Mallorca will be showcased and different Canary Islands groups will also participate. Admission is free.

The show will start on Thursday, at 19:00, with a festival of local folk groups: Guaydil, Sentir Sureño, Viñático de San Isidro, San Antonio de Padua, Alisios del Sur and Aires de Abona. The authorities’ official reception for participating groups will take place on Friday 16th August at 19:00 at the Hotel Médano. Afterwards, these groups will take part in a parade, starting at the dock and ending at the square, where the shows will kick off with performances by Agrupación Folclórica Atabara (Tenerife), Aires de La Cala (Mallorca), Simyonov-Beograd (Serbia) and Hawaiian Pacific Magic (Hawaii). On Saturday 17th at 21:30, the company Pieles will perform their show ‘Ángaro’, and on Sunday 18th the festival will end with a final performance from the Los Sabandeños group. In addition, the multifunctional M3 building in El Médano will host an intensive folk dancing course until the 16th August.
