The MusaSenegal Senegalese Culture Festival hosts an African storytelling session at the MUNA

31-Aug-2019
Museo de la Naturaleza y la Arqueología (MUNA)
Calle Fuente Morales
Santa Cruz de Tenerife
11:30 horas

On Saturday 31st from 11.30, the Museum of Nature and Archeology (MUNA) will host an African storytelling session by the Thioune Brothers within the MusaSenegal Senegalese Culture Festival. Admission is free until seating capacity is reached.

The stories are a return to those African nights in which there was no electricity or television and children gathered in the courtyard of their houses or around their village’s palaver tree to listen to ancestral stories. These stories, narrated by grandparents and usually featuring animals and ancient kings, always contained life lessons: of generosity, solidarity or kindness. The Thioune Brothers will try to recreate these scenes with a narrator in the role of the grandmother, accompanied by several percussionists and a griot (West African storyteller who maintains oral traditions) with the legendary kora (a 21-stringed instrument).

The exhibition is part of the MusaSenegal Senegelese Culture Festival. Find out more about all its activities.
