It will be open Monday to Friday (10:00-14:00 and 17:00-20:00) and Saturdays (10:00-14:00). Admission is free.

Nicolás Massieu y Matos was born in the neighbourhood of Vegueta in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in 1876 and died in Ciudad Jardín, in 1954. He was a prominent member of a family with a wide artistic tradition that started with his great uncle, Manuel Ponce de León and Falcon (1812-1880), followed by his uncle, Nicolás Massieu y Falcon (1853-1934). His niece, Lola Massieu (1921-2007) was one of the most important Spanish abstract artists in the 20th century. With a few simple round brushes and thick paint, he sculpts each element of the landscape: cliffs, mountains, ravines, trees, flowers, rocks, soil, grass, houses. Each one finds its place, its density, its weight, its materiality within the canvas.
