Nicolás Laiz Placeres presents

The TEA Space in San Miguel de Abona, the Llano del Camello cultural centre, displays "La colección del doctor Ambrosio Betancor Perdomo", by Nicolás Laiz Placeres (Lanzarote, 1975) until 15 June. It is open Monday to Friday 10:00 to 13:00 and 16:00 to 20:00. Admission is free.
This display, inspired by the distant past and beginnings of anthropology in the Canary Islands, is an exercise in imagination-construction-falsification. Beginning with remnants and fragments, Nicolás Laiz Placeres presents a collection of objects belonging to an imaginary character, Ambrosio Betancor Perdomo, recalling the memory of a prehistoric people. It is designed as an installation of different elements in the exhibition space, maintaining the structure of a cabinet of curiosities or a proto-anthropology museum. The artist aims to reflect on the past, the conservation of memory, the organisation of these objects as a function of the historical narrative and the projection of the distant past into the future while keeping in mind the needs of the present.
