The Royal Economic Society of Friends of the Island of Tenerife (Real Sociedad Económica de Amigos del País de Tenerife -RSEAPT) hosts a talk by Javier López-Cepero Jiménez, doctor of Agronomic Engineering and coordinator of the Technical Department of the Canarian Archipelago Regional Cooperatives Group (COPLACA), entitled "Contaminación debida a la actividad agraria" ("Contamination due to agricultural activity"). The event forms part of the 9th edition of the Planet Earth Seminar and takes place on Monday 7 May at 19:00. Admission is free.

The speaker will address the factors relating to food production that can have a negative impact not only on the environment but also on people, both farmers and consumers. During his talk he will analyse current legislation on the use of typical products associated with agricultural activity such as insecticides and fertilizers, as well as looking at how the waste by-products of agricultural practices can damage the environment. He will also focus on the importance of conserving the quality and quantity of the Islands' natural resources, and give examples of good agricultural management.
