On Wednesday 20 at 19:30, the Museum of Nature and Mankind hosts the first talk of the Detectives of Nature series being held until 22 June. Under the title "Mentes, natural_mentes (On scientific thought: relevant Canary Islands figures)", the talk will be given by the curator of marine biology at Tenerife's Natural Sciences Museum, Alejandro de Vera Hernández.

During the 19th century, thanks to advances in maritime technology and the rise of the great trade routes between the Old and New World, the seeds of oceanography as a true scientific discipline were planted. However, the progress of oceanography cannot be explained without the important female figures who made great advances in the study of ecosystems and marine dynamics, facilitating the understanding of numerous marine phenomena on a global scale.
