The International Canarias Jazz & Más Heineken Festival returns to the Leal Theatre following its premiere with the French-Dominican Cyrille Aimée with the music of Brazilian João Bosco. The concert will take place on Tuesday 17 at 21:00. Tickets are on sale for €25.

Born in Ponte Nova in 1946, João Bosco made his musical mark in a family in which music was as important as eating and sleeping. His mother was an accomplished violinist, his father a samba singer, his sister a concert pianist and his brother a composer. While attending Ouro Preto University he immersed himself in American jazz (particularly Miles Davis) and the bossa nova of João Gilberto and Antonio Carlos Jobim. Also at the University he met lyricist Vinicius de Moraes, who contributed his elegant and poetic words to Bosco's music. It wasn't long before record companies began requesting their services.
