Early diagnosis of breast cancer

Breast cancer is an abnormal and uncontrolled growth of mammary gland tissue cells. The rate of complete recovery from breast cancer is very high when it is detected in the first stages of the illness. Therefore, it is very important to learn how to recognise the first symptoms through regular self-examination .

You can find information on self-examination as well as many other tips on detecting breast cancer on the Official Website of the Government of the Canary Islands.

Apart from regular self-examinations, women over the age of 50 al are advised to get a mammogram at their health centre.
