Menopause is the cessation of menstruation due to age. It is considered to have occurred when between 6 and 12 months have elapsed without menstruation. Menopause occurs during the climacteric, a stage of a woman's life when her organs are adapting to the lack of sexual hormones, often occurring between the ages of 45 and 55.
Menopause is a natural process that cannot be cured as it is not an illness . However, menopausal symptoms can be prevented or treated when they appear. The most common symptoms are perspiration, pins and needles, depression, irritability, insomnia, headaches and osteoporosis.
