The Institute for Social and Socio-Sanitary Care (IASS) offers services in the areas of the child protection, promotion and prevention through the Childhood and Family Unit.
This Unit is responsible for the management and supervision of residential centres and programs aimed at children who for whatever reason have been temporarily or permanently separated from their families. Professional staff offer specialised services for the entire family unit.
The IASS works together with the island's town halls, offering support and technical guidance to teams of practitioners in the municipalities. The institute also promotes the standardisation of procedures in this area.
