Municipal Archaeology Charts

The purpose of the instrument for protection is to identify and make an inventory of the archaeological sites in each municipality. In Article 64, the Canary Islands Historical Heritage Act (LPHC) defines archaeological charts as the "Administration's internal documents for planning and protecting archaeological heritage".

There must be a legitimate interest for consulting the archaeological charts, although there are no rules that govern access to their information by citizens and non-government organisations, who are only required to justify the reasons for the consultation.

The Council of Tenerife now has Archaeological Charts for most of the island’s territory and an inventory is being made of the remaining areas for which there is little or no information.
