Municipal Ethnographic Charts

The Canary Islands Historical Heritage Act (LPHC) does not provide precise regulations for ethnographical charts. Article 74 indicates that the charts are used to document and make an inventory of Ethnographical Heritage buildings, although the administration’s protection of movable and immovable property is governed by the provisions for Assets of Cultural Interest, the municipal architecture lists o el the Movable Assets Inventory.

Thus, the ethnographical charts are merely inventories that enable the identification and localisation of the aforesaid assets but that do not provide specific legal protection or establish legal consequences.

The Council is in the process of drawing up an Ethnographical Chart of the Island, although the project is still in the initial stages. Certain towns, including Granadilla de Abona, Guía de Isora and Arona have rigorous and reliable municipal Ethnographical Charts.
