Although Art. 15 of the Canary Islands Historical Heritage Act indicates the municipal nature of this protective instrument, Article 72 of the Act stipulates that paleontological sites must be identified and localised using the individual island’s palaeontology charts.

Currently there is no Palaeontology Chart for Tenerife Island, although we have sufficient information on such sites on the island.
