To find out whether your property is listed as an Asset of Cultural Interest (Bien de Interés Cultural, or BIC), go to the Tenerife Historical Heritage Map 393.75 KB, which gives a list of all the BICs on the Island and their corresponding boundaries.
BIC buildings are classified into different categories, including: Monument, Historical Complex, Archaeological Area, Historical Garden, Historical Site, Paleontological Area and Ethnological Site.
If your property is in one of the areas listed as a BIC, it is subject to the legal framework that governs all BICs.
Go to Permissions to do repairs on BICs if you intend to undertake construction work on your property.
