Eighty per cent of the grapes harvested are white grapes, principally the Listán Blanco variety; however Malvasía and Marmajuelo are also grown. Only 20% of the grapes grown are red varieties.

Tacoronte-Acentejo Designation of Origin

The principal varieties of grapes grown in this Designation of Origin region are the white grapes Listán Blanca, Gual, Verdello, Malvasía, Moscatel and Vijariego, and reds Listán Negro and Negramoll.

Valle de Güímar Designation of Origin

The principal white grape variety grown in this region is Listán Blanco, whilst for reds the most widespread is Listán Negro, followed by Negramoll. Newer plantations are also growing Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Ruby Cabernet, Sirah and Tempranillo.

Valle de la Orotava Designation of Origin

The main varieties of white grapes harvested in this region are Bastardo Blanco, Gual, Forastera Blanca, Listán Blanco and Malvasía, amongst others. The reds are Bastardo Negro, Listán Negro, Malvasía Rosada, Moscatel Negra, Negramoll, Tintilla and Vijariego Negra.

Ycoden-Daute-Isora Designation of Origin

The predominant varieties are Listán Blanca and Listán Negra. There is also a limited but interesting production of sweet wines produced primarily from Malvasía and Moscatel grapes.
