Since 2005, the Environment Area of the Island Council of Tenerife has implemented an Environmental Management System in accordance with the ISO 14.001 Standard and the Community Regulation EMAS.

Our main motivation is the continuous improvement of our environmental performance and, as an Environmental Area, to be a reference point in continuous improvement in terms of good environmental practices for citizens, the different public administrations, suppliers and companies that work for us.

Since the implementation of the system, we have improved many aspects of our environmental management: reduction of paper consumption by more than 40%, almost exclusive use of recycled and chlorine-free paper, reduction of water consumption, rationalisation of energy use and correct waste segregation and management.

Our environmental performance is reflected annually in a public report called Environmental Statement, validated by an accredited external verifier.
