Camps

Camps have been designed for long-terms stays for groups of between 30 and 65 people , wishing to pursue outdoor educational, environmental and social activity programs .

All programs carried out at the camps must include a component of environmental education l. Groups will be loaned a "Let's Go Camping" folder containing educational material on the environment.

The Council of Tenerife's Department for the Environment runs three such camps, all of which are located within the Corona Forestal Nature Park.

  • El Lagar Camp.- is located in the municipality of Icod de los Vinos, in the north of the island, at around one thousand metres above sea level within one of the island's most impressive wet pine forests.
  • Barranco de la Arena Camp.- is located in the north of Tenerife, in the muncipality of La Guancha. It is close to the El Lagar camp and shares the facilities with the Barranco de la Arena Nature Classroom.
  • Madre del Agua Camp.- is located in the south of the island, in the upper areas of the muncipality of Granadilla de Abona. Situated 1500 metres above sea level, it is flanked to the north by the steep peaks of the Las Cañadas cirque. One of few natural dry pine forests found in the Canary Islands is nearby.
