Vientos fuertes

In case of strong wind, the Government of the Canary Island's Central Office for Safety and Emergencies, via the Coordinating Centre for Emergencies and Security 112, makes the following recommendations:

  • Do not go outdoors. Close and fasten shut all doors and windows.
  • Remove or secure all objects that can be swept away by the wind, such as pot plants, furniture and awnings.
  • Avoid walking along narrow roads and in areas surrounded by trees. Stay away from old buildings and construction work.
  • Keep away from walls, fences and trees.
  • Stay away from beaches or low-lying areas where waves could break.
