In case of strong wind, the Government of the Canary Island's Central Office for Safety and Emergencies, via the Coordinating Centre for Emergencies and Security 112, makes the following recommendations:
- Do not go outdoors. Close and fasten shut all doors and windows.
- Remove or secure all objects that can be swept away by the wind, such as pot plants, furniture and awnings.
- Avoid walking along narrow roads and in areas surrounded by trees. Stay away from old buildings and construction work.
- Keep away from walls, fences and trees.
- Stay away from beaches or low-lying areas where waves could break.
- If you are driving, seek shelter in a safe and visible place.
