The Council of Tenerife, via the Centre for Quality and Responsible Consumption , is in charge of issues related to consumption and quality for the island of Tenerife.
Services offered
- Provision of support to public and private bodies throughout Tenerife.
- Design of surveys, studies and reports to determine suitable activities, and gathering of information on the situation in Tenerife.
- Organisation of annual campaigns and ad hoc training and awareness-raising events: conferences, talks, workshops, courses, competitions, and more.
- Participation in and management of European projects.
- Signing of agreements and coordination with local, national and European bodies.
- Other services include training, which is offered via the Centre for Consumer Training and Quality Promotion, aimed at:
- Primary school students and students in the first years of secondary school.
- Adult education centres.
- Consumer associations, housewives, amongst others.
- Business people and traders.
Courses and activities on offer are:
- Seminars.- Two-day consumer training programs aimed at special interest groups and adults in general.
- Quality programs.- Courses on quality aimed at students in vocational programs. Courses run for one day for higher cycles or two days for middle cycles.
- Assessing quality in business.- Courses aimed specifically at the business sector.
- Workshops.- Practical activities organised by the School for Consumers on different topics of interest, such as financial services, food and health, shopping, rights and obligations, advertising, responsible consumption and business, the internet, consumer rights, amongst others.
- Training sessions.- Courses aimed at primary and secondary school teachers that run over the course of four days for a total of 16 hours. Courses are accredited by the Canary Islands Department for Education.
- Media library.- Consult information on consumption organised by topic in different forms of media: books, videos, CDs, magazines, journals, teaching material, brochures, amongst others.

Tenerife Observatory of Quality
The Tenerife Observatory of Quality is a Council of Tenerife initiative implemented to promote the study, analysis and development of new trends and models in quality management both nationally and internationally. Its primary objective is to monitor quality and work towards fostering a culture of quality in Tenerife.
The Observatory also affords all those interested in continued improvement, innovation and excellence the possibility of using the internet to further their knowledge and apply quality systems in companies, and public and private organisations.
