The Council of Tenerife’s Historical Heritage (Patrimonio Histórico del Cabildo de Tenerife) has organised another guided tour around the Island within the framework of the themed routes programme "Discovering Tenerife’s Heritage". The route is dedicated to “Unique architecture” and takes place on Saturday 6th, leaving at 10.30 am from the Casa Mascareño in the capital. To participate you must register.

After the Second World War, a new architectural style emerged in Europe. It was led by architects who advocated for simple geometric shapes, a new approach to spaces and subtle decorations embedded in the architecture itself, all accompanied by a rationalisation of materials and the inclusion of newer materials, such as glass. Tenerife was no stranger to this movement, especially in Santa Cruz, where you can see multiple examples located in different areas of the city. This route will depart from Casa Mascareño, which is currently being restored, continue along roads in the Salamanca neighbourhood and finish on the Rambla de Santa Cruz. Participants will learn about this little-known architecture, characteristic of a certain era and society, in an fun and interpretative way.

You can register online.
