Hermanos Thioune play a concert at the MUNA with the support of the MusaSenegal Senegalese Culture Festival

21:30 horas

On Friday 13th at 21.30, the Museum of Nature and Archaeology (MUNA) hosts a concert by Hermanos Thioune, a Senegalese quartet living in Gran Canaria, as part of the MusaSenegal Senegalese Culture Festival. Admission is free until seating capacity is reached.

The group formed in 2009 in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, and is led by brothers Aly and Khaly Thioune, both Performing Arts graduates from the National School of ths Arts in Senegal. Their style includes a variety of percussive sounds and melodies using various African drums such as djembes, talking drums or dumdum. They combine these with the Spanish guitar and a drum kit, as well as acrobatic dancing and rhythmic choreography. Their musical style encompasses much of Africa, but also Spain and Europe. The aim of the music is to share it with the audience and achieve its distribution and cultural integration. The band is formed by four musicians from Senegal: Khaly Thioune, Malle Sarr, Ndiounga Niang and Bakary Bodian.

The Hermanos Thioune will also lead three workshops on Saturday starting at 11:30 (free of charge) that aim to bring us closer to some aspects related to the Senegalese culture: dance, percussion and braids.

The concert is part of the MusaSenegal Senegelese Culture Festival. Find out more about all its activities.
