The TEA exhibit “Contra la piel” opens the new season of Area 60

The TEA Tenerife Arts Space presents “Contra la piel” (“Against the Skin”), the new exhibition of Area 60, a support programme helping to integrate young artists and curators into the professional world. The show is curated by Semíramis González (Gijón, 1988) and exhibits creations by artists Cristóbal Tabares, Valle Galera, Rubén H. Bermúdez and Gabriela Bettini. It is open until 6 May. Admission is free.
TEA custodian and Area 60 programme coordinator Yolanda Peralta explains that “Contra la piel” brings together a series of works that reflect on stereotypes linked to gender, race, class and sexual orientation identity. “This collection denounces racism, homophobia, transphobia and femicide, themes which, along with afro-consciousness and black feminism, will also be addressed in the show’s parallel activities”, Peralta adds.
