On Tuesday 3 from 16:00 to 20:00, the TEA presents the second session of the programme "¡Autonomía! ¡Automatización!", promoting and encouraging cultural critical thinking. It will be led by poet and University of La Laguna professor Sandra Santana, who will conduct a seminar entitled "La lengua anda suelta: entre escritores austrohúngaros y poetas de la vanguardia neoyorkina". Admission is free but it is recommended to confirm via e-mail at

The seminar revolves around two times and two magazines apparently distant in time: Die Fackel, the satirical daily published by Karl Kraus in Vienna at the beginning of the 20th century, and 0 to 9, the experimental literary magazine published by Vito Acconci and Bernadette Mayer in the 1960s. What do the cultural environment of fin-de-siècle Vienna and that of the poets and artists of the 1968 New York avant-garde have in common? In this session, Sandra Santana proposes a journey from Kärntner Strasse to the Lower East Side, from the decline of the Austro-Hungarian Empire to the birth of conceptual and post-minimalist art.
