There are sports federations for people with disabilities, operating at both national and regional level. Furthermore, the Spanish Olympic Committee also coordinates all types of sport for people with disabilities.
The Canary Islands Federation of Sports for People with Disabilities
This Canary Islands federation promotes sport amongst those with disabilities.
The federation currently has categories for people with different disabilities such as a physical disability, blindness and those with a visual impairment, cerebral palsy or people with a hearing disability.
The federation also covers an extensive list of sports. Amongst others, the following feature: athletics, basketball, cycling, skiing, football, hockey, swimming, judo, tennis and boccia (a version of petanque for people with a disability).
The Spanish Federation of Sports for People with a Physical Disability (FEDPDF)
The Spanish Federation of Sports for People with a Physical Disability (FEDPDF) is a private body that brings together the physically disabled, technicians (with or without a disability) and sports associations and disability federations from the Autonomous Regions.
Amongst the sports included in the federation we find athletics, cycling, badminton, basketball, cycling, fencing, skiing, football, weightlifting, equestrian sports, swimming and sub-aquatic activities.
Spanish Paralympic Committee
The Spanish Paralympic Committee coordinates all sports activities for people with a disability within Spain, in collaboration with the National Sports Council.
The five Spanish sports federations form part of the Paralympic Committee and organise all competitive sport in Spain according to the particular type of disability, boasting a total of more than 13,000 affiliated sportspeople.

En el Complejo Deportivo Insular Santa Cruz-Ofra, los mayores de 65 años pueden realizar diferentes actividades como fitness y gimnasia en el agua, aqua circuit, yoga y tahi chí.
Cuándo
Las clases de yoga y tahi chí se imparten todos los días por la mañana y la gimnasia en la piscina tiene varios horarios. Las clases tienen una duración de 1 hora y se imparten durante todo el año.
Precio
Estas actividades están incluidas en el abono mensual para mayores de 65 años que es de 13,50€ por la mañana y de 18€ todo el día.

Para apuntarse debes de acudir a las instalaciones del Complejo, rellenar un formulario y entregar fotocopia del DNI.

There are several sports facilities on the Island adapted to allow people with disabilities to participate in various sports. The Tenerife Sports Association for People with Disabilities (ADEMI) allows disabled people to engage in a number of sports adapted to the needs of the disability.
You can also engage in sports at a competitive level or as rehabilitation therapy at the ADEMI Club.
Sports offered at the ADEMI Club
Basketball
- Training takes place in the Santa Cruz-Ofra Sports Complex, in the Sergio García Pavillion.
- Training times are from 7pm to 10pm Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
- Official matches of the regular league are played at home on Saturdays at 6pm.

The Tenerife Insular Athletics Plan (PIAT) is made up of a set of projects which, distributed in various areas, try to elevate the level of our Island in the practice of this sport and to try to ensure that during the next few years Tenerife athletics makes a leap forward in terms of the quantity and quality of those taking part. This project has been the motivating factor in the recent growth of a discipline which has multiplied its number of licences on the Island by a factor of more than three, from 659 afiliates to more than 2,000 in the last decade.
The PIAT drives the practice of sports that are framed in athletics through iniciatives such as:
- The creation of infrastructures and equipment necessary for the practice of this sport in its different forms and categories, which has been realised in the commissioning of
- Four training centres.
- An athletics track of 400 metros.
- The reform, improvement and equipping of the athletics tracks Antonio Domínguez, Francisco Peraza, Díaz Molina and Universidad de La Laguna.
- Jumping and throwing modules in the Francisco Peraza stadium.
- Jogging and cross-country circuits.
- Los Realejos football pitch and athletics track.
- Actions directed to training , especially the youngest, such as:
- National athletics monitor course
- Club trainer course
- National trainer course
- Territorial judge course
- Trainer retraining course
- Master in high performance
- Initiatives focused on the promotion of the sport, athletics schools, competitions and others, such as:
- Supporting athletics schools in the municipalities
- Athletics in sports promotion games
- Supporting the pool of young athletes
- Supporting the Insular Federation of Tenerife Athletics for athletics encouragement programs
- Supporting the management administration of the Insular Federation of Tenerife Athletics for the collaboration of the insular athletics program
- Specific activities for technical improvement , to increase the technical level and the number of monitors, trainers and judges:
