In Semana Santa (Easter Week), the colourful exuberance of Tenerife Carnival gives way to the silence of religious expression. From 23 March (Friday of Sorrows) until April 1 (Easter, or Resurrection, Sunday) the majority of Tenerife's towns hold numerous liturgical and celebratory events that combine tradition and religious devotion.

From Friday 30 until Sunday 1 April, the TEA Tenerife Arts Space screens the Argentine film "Zama" (2017), by Lucrecia Martel. There will be screenings at 19:00 and 21:30. Tickets are on sale for €4.

The TEA Tenerife Arts Space hosts the exhibition "El azar objetivo. Fotografía de vanguardia en la Colección COFF" through 15 July, again showing the public some of the pieces of the Ordóñez-Falcón Photography Collection (COFF). It is the most substantive private photography collection in Spain and one of the most extensive in all of Europe. It will remain open Tuesday to Sunday, from 10:00 to 20:00, until 25 June.

The CajaCanarias Cultural Space in Santa Cruz hosts the exhibition “Vikingos. Guerreros del Norte, Gigantes del Mar” (Vikings: Warriors of the North, Giants of the Sea). It is the result of a collaboration with the company Museums Partner and the National Museum of Denmark and can be visited through 11 August from Monday to Friday 10:00 to 13:30 and 17:30 to 20:00, and Saturdays from 10:00 to 13:30. Admission is free

The TEA Tenerife Arts Space hosts the exhibition “Crisis? What Crisis? Chapter 2. Drawings (and other anthropological resources)”, a collection concentrated on drawing and its relevance to the careers of twenty Canary Islands artists born after 1975. The show can be visited from Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00 to 20:00, until 3 June.

The TEA exhibit “Contra la piel” opens the new season of Area 60

The TEA Tenerife Arts Space presents “Contra la piel” (“Against the Skin”), the new exhibition of Area 60, a support programme helping to integrate young artists and curators into the professional world. The show is curated by Semíramis González (Gijón, 1988) and exhibits creations by artists Cristóbal Tabares, Valle Galera, Rubén H. Bermúdez and Gabriela Bettini. It is open until 6 May. Admission is free.

The Museum of Nature presents the world’s largest exhibition of mummies and funerary items

The Museum of Nature and Mankind will host the exhibition “Athanatos. Immortal. Death and Immortality in Past Populations” from 20 December to 4 June from 9:00 to 21:00. It will offer a look at the funeral rites of the Guanches as well as other cultures and will include an extraordinary World Congress on Mummy Studies to be held in May.
