The 25th of December 1945 is the date Adelantado Alonso Fernández de Lugo launched one of his battles against the Guanche people. After many hours of fighting, the native people of Tenerife were defeated and the Castilian's cried "Victory!" This is how this municipality located in the north of the island received its name. It is now the harmonious result of the union of nature, history and its people.
