What is it?

Acantilados de Isorana Site of Scientific Interest is a stretch of cliffs around 3 kilometres long and between 25 and 30 metres high, home to a number of endangered bird species such as Bulwer's petrel (Bulweria bulwerii) and the little shearwater (Puffinus assimilis).

Getting there

Although this protected stretch of sea cliffs is best observed from the sea it can also be accessed from the TF-47, which passes through the village of Playa San Juan. Leaving the village, continue on towards Santa Cruz and between kilometres 6 and 8 of the TF-47 you will find a number of dirt tracks that lead down to the sea and approach the upper edge of the cliffs.

Governing legislation

Acantilados de Isorana was declared a Site of Scientific Interest and area of environmental sensitivity by Autonomous Region Act 12/94, which was later integrated into the Organisation of the Canary Islands Territory Act via Legislative Decree 1/2000.
