Comprehensive care for women

The Council of Tenerife provides a comprehensive service for female victims of gender violence through the Gender Violence Unit of the Institute of Social and Socio-Sanitary Care (IASS).

Services offered

  • Immediate Assistance to women in situations of need.
    Telephone: 112
  • Free teleservice , via mobile phone to a centre specialised in providing care to women victims of gender violence available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
  • Temporary accommodation for female victims of gender violence and their children who cannot safely return to their habitual residence for fear of their lives and/or their physical or mental integrity. Applications can be submitted to the Gender Violence Unit through the many offices that form part of the Island's Network of Specialised Care.
  • Specialised services for children in residential care with their mothers in specialised housing, which is oriented towards overcoming the consequences of violence experienced by these women as well as teaching non-sexist and non-violent models of behaviour.
  • Immediate assistance to women in situations of need as a result of gender violence as well as assistance to those who are at reasonable and imminent risk of becoming victims of gender violence.
  • There are also comprehensive services available for female victims of gender violence, including:
    • Protection measures
    • Social guidance
    • Legal advice, as well as support with reporting incidents of violence and other legal procedures
    • Psychological care
    • Careers guidance
