Glossary of Hunting Terms G

Game reserve

Grounds where hunting is permanently prohibited unless authorised by the administration. Game reserves are created for biological, scientific and educational purposes to ensure the conservation of certain species of game animals at the proposal of the island councils and, in certain cases, at the request of the owner of the grounds or public or private cultural and scientific bodies. Game reserves are set up and declared off-limits by the Canary Islands Government's ministry with competence in environmental affairs, and are managed by the island councils.
