The centres belonging to the Regional Body for Museums and Centres (OAMC) offers numerous educational initiatives and activities for students of schools and education centres on the Island or within the Autonomous Community. Basically, it relates to educational material for loaning to education centres and activities that each museum manages individually. The OAMC also organises individual and group visits to the Castillo de San Cristóbal Visitors Centre, the Centre for Documentation for the Canaries and Latin America(CEDOCAM) and the Cueva del Viento, which can be arranged through the Tenerife Museums website

History and Anthropology Museum of Tenerife

  • Museum Nights

    Nocturnal visit based around the permanent exhibition of the Museum and the historical centre of La Laguna. Last Friday of each month.

  • Nocturnos

    The “Nocturnos” or short stories are held on the arrival of each season and combine literature, music and history.

  • Bookbinding workshop

    Participants learn techniques and practices of the different types of artisanal bookbinding with the objective of bringing the public closer to the book as an object of knowledge.

  • The Route of the Castles

    Guided and energetic visit to the defensive colonial-style castles of Tenerife. For school groups, from October to June, a weekly route on Wednesdays. For other groups, on Saturdays all year round by appointment on 922 825 949.

Science and Cosmos Museum

  • Birthday with the Stars
    The museum offers the possibility for children of ages between 3 and 12 to celebrate their birthdays with the stars within its facilities.
  • Cosmic Tourism
    Visitors to the Museum can travel to various places in the Solar System via a sophisticated simulation.
  • Astronomy Camp
    Stay in the Museum from Friday evening to Saturday morning in which children participate in diverse activities related to astronomy.
  • Astronomical Nights
    Held on Fridays nearest to the full moon by appointment - see the craters and mountains on the Moon or the rings of Saturn or Jupiter.
  • Scientific Cine forum Alucine on the Future
    Science fiction and numerous films based on space throughout the history of cinema are shown on Sundays from 16:00 with free entry.
  • The Cosmoneta
    Cosmoneta or “Cosmobile” is a vehicle that the Museum takes over the Island to carry out its demonstrations and experiments in diverse situations.

Castillo de San Cristóbal Visitors Centre

The Castillo de San Cristóbal was, for centuries, the first defensive bastion on the coast of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. It was demolished in 1928, but its subterranean remains can be collected free of charge.

Opening hours:

Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, from 10:00 to 18:00 and Saturdays and Sundays from 11:00 to 19:00.
Summer opening hours (July, August and September) are Monday to Sunday between 11:00 and 19:00. and is closed on Mondays.

Cueva del Viento

The subterranean Cueva del Viento-Sobrado or “Cave of the Wind” complex is the longest volcanic tube in the European Union. It is found in Icod de los Vinos and and has a Visitor Centre with bilingual panels and expert guides. Special timetables for school groups.
