Youth centres, managed by the Town and City Halls, are public spaces created by the Council of Tenerife that promote and channel both individual and group youth initiatives, providing the necessary material and IT support for this end.

It is an open space allowing you to participate: you will receive the information that you need and discover other ways of developing your skills, in a space where you can meet up with your friends, where you will enjoy yourself and where you can unleash your creativity.

The centres boast a media library, a cyber centre, a youth information service, a space where groups and associations can gather, a workshop, a games room and a multimedia room.

In some cases, additional resources available, such as a rehearsal space, a youth hostel or an assembly room.

How you can take part

  • Participate in the decision-making and management of the centres
  • Have the opportunity to see your proposals realised
  • Create or join groups with shared interests.
  • Obtain access to the Internet, magazines, newspapers, books and learning material as well as audio, video and television resources.
  • Use the table tennis, table football or games area.
  • Make enquiries at the Information Service and get answers to any questions you have about employment, education, training, leisure, grants, travel or sexuality, amongst other areas.
  • Take part in or deliver dance, theatre, video, photography, comic, radio, music, literature or graffiti workshops.
  • Attend courses, go on outings, practice a sport and attend fairs and concerts, amongst other activities.

Amateur Theatre is an initiative aimed at people from cultural and social associations from around the island who would like to join a theatre group to develop their expression and at the same time have fun.

Theatre activities are organised in cooperation with seniors associations for people between the ages of 65 and 75.

Duration

Amateur theatre courses run for a minimum of 3 months and a maximum of 6 months.

This activity is free.

How

  • Amateur Theatre first puts a proposal forward to a seniors association. Once the proposal has been accepted, the association must complete an application form and meet a number of requirements, such as
  • Stage a show at the end of the course.
  • Participate in an exchange with another associatio.
  • Continue until the completion of the course.
  • The courses run for a minimum of 3 months and a maximum of 6 months.

You can also connect to the Internet free of charge in the Council’s public Internet access centres which are located all over the Island of Tenerife.

Each centre runs activities on a continuous basis which encourages the use of new services and the discovery of the Internet’s potential.
