The open, friendly and tranquil mountain municipality of Vilaflor is one of the highest in Spain. As the historical centre of the region of Chasna, Vilaflor has preserved its traditions and picturesque charm thanks to its location high in the mountains on the road to Mt Teide. The area has also not experienced the same degree of tourist development as the coastal areas have. Its mountain location and the surrounding nature has made Vilaflor a refuge of peace and tranquillity; a refuge that still has a lot to offer in the way of sporting, educational and youth activities; a refuge that constantly promotes culture and traditions.

Tegueste is one of the island's important residential areas and has grown over the past 25 years with the growth of the island's population. It is located in the metropolitan area of Tenerife and borders with La Laguna. The municipality has received recognition for its work on keeping a large number of the island's ancestral traditions alive. These traditions include the San Marcos Evangelista procession, the Flower Dance, the battle re-enactment known as La Librea. The local people of Tegueste have also played an important role in reviving the sport of Canarian wrestling.

Santiago del Teide, a municipality with an abundant variety of tourist activities, is located in the south east of Tenerife. Bordering with Guía de Isora to the south and El Tanque to the north, the municipality stretches from the coast to the mountain, right up to the slopes of Mt Teide itself. Set on mountainous terrain, the steep slopes of the municipality of Tacoronte often separate one district from the next. The soil and climatic conditions at between 400 and 800 metres above sea level make it ideal for agriculture, and the area is famous for its superb wines. The district of Agua García is home to a wonderful natural attraction, namely the area's important laurisilva reserve. The municipality has grown spectacularly in the past fifty years. In fact, its population has doubled thanks to its proximity to La Laguna and Puerto de la Cruz. It is also a hub for services and first class rural tourism, and its coastline is dotted with beautiful enclaves and beaches.

Santa Ursula is located to the far east of the Dorsal Mountain Range in the Acentejo region, which is made up of the municipalities of La Victoria, La Matanza, El Sauzal and Tacoronte. Traditionally based on agriculture, the area's economy has now moved into the services sector, although agriculture still flourishes at altitudes of between 400 and 800 m above sea level. Both its coastal cliffs and interior landscapes attract many nature lovers to the area, who come to visit Las Lagunetas Protected Landscape, the Las Palomas Special Nature Reserve and the Costa de Acentejo Protected Landscape.
